Amina Hachimi Alaoui
Amina Hachimi Alaoui obtained a degree in Political Science from the College of Law, Mohammed V University, in Casablanca.
She is the co-founder of the bookshop Le Carrefour des Livres (1984) and the founder of the bookshop Le Carrefour des Art (1995). These two bookshops have encouraged reading and cultural awareness as well as organizing a number of festivals and cultural symposiums.
On 2006 she founded Yanbow Al Kitab, a publishing house specialized on children books. She developed reading programs with NGO’s through a citizen action: one book, one child, to provide books to the ones who could not normally afford them. This is what Yanbow Al KItab organizing workshops, storytelling sessions, and games to sensitize children to the importance of reading.
Since becoming a Grandmother, Amina has been inspired to start writing children’s books by her grandchildren her to write short stories.
Alya and the Three Cats is her first children’s book to be translated into English and reached the shortlist for Etisalat Award 2016 as the book of the year and the best production.
